Salmonella is the scientific name for over 2,500 types of bacteria. They are known to cause disease in humans, animals, and birds (especially poultry) worldwide. People can acquire the bacteria via a variety of different foods of animal origin. The illness it causes is called salmonellosis.
The Salmogenics™ vaccine is a patented vaccine for Salmonella. Salmogenics™ stimulates an immune response in chickens produced from inoculated eggs to fight several intestinal pathogenic organisms that include seven field strains of E. coli and four Salmonella strains.
Salmogenics™ contains the Sotomayor Antigen, which has been patented by the Company’s majority shareholder, NHIL. An antigen is a substance that, when introduced into a body, triggers the production of an antibody by the immune system, which will then kill or neutralize the antigen that is recognized as a foreign and potentially harmful invader.
The Sotomayor Antigen pertains to a particular composition of multiple germs mainly of the Genus Salmonella in order to control intestinal pathogenic organisms in the chicken species. The chicken egg, when properly vaccinated with Salmogenics™, we believe, hatches a Salmonella-resistant chick that requires fewer antibiotics. To the consumer, this may mean a higher quality meat grown with fewer antibiotics.
1.3 Billion Humans and 40 Billion Chickens a Year Could Benefit from the Salmogenics Vaccine.
The Salmogenics™ vaccine improves the immune system of the fowl, thereby improving the health and welfare of the bird and those that eat chicken. The birds are less susceptible to illness and experience increased weight gain and reduced mortality, a big plus for the poultry industry worldwide. This means not only a healthier chicken, but a healthier source of protein for us humans to consume with much less fear that we will become infected by Salmonella bacteria and suffer long-term illness or a worst-case scenario, death.
Salmogenics™ may save lives and reduce the use of antibiotics in poultry.
Food poisoning with Salmonella is the cause of thousands of lives yearly, specially in the case of infants and the elderly.
Salmogenics™ contains natural organisms that are not genetically modified, improving the immune system, resulting in a healthier chicken. It stimulates an immune response in chickens produced from inoculated eggs to several intestinal pathogenic organisms that include various Salmonella strains.
There is a growing swell of concern about the use of antibiotics in the poultry and meat industry. The January 2013 International Production & Processing Expo included an Antibiotic Conference that focused on “Current Issues for the Poultry & Egg Industry.” A February release from the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association stated that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is moving forward with its plan to limit use of medically important antimicrobial drugs to those considered necessary for assuring animal health. Regulatory changes are partly responsible for the growing interest in alternatives to intensive antibiotic use in the poultry industry. In June 2012, Consumer Reports reported that “approximately 80 percent of all antibiotics (approximately 29 million pounds) sold in the U.S. are used by the meat and poultry industry to make animals grow faster or to prevent disease in crowded and unsanitary conditions.”
Test results to date have shown that Salmogenics™ produces healthier chickens that have increased body weight and may reduce the use of antibiotics and other antimicrobials that have been proven to be detrimental to human consumption.
